Going to Salt Spring

First Ferry to Salt Spring

It’s early. Like ‘I’m on holidays and can’t waste a minute sleeping’ early. The first ferry of the day is leaving the Crofton by the Sea harbour for Salt Spring Island, and we’re driving down to park the car in the lineup for the next one, which leaves an hour later.

The pre-sunrise glow is beyond description, fire erupting across the sky. I want to stop and drink it in … enjoy the birth of a new day … but I can’t stop clicking. I’m driven to capture every color, every nuance, every shifting shade. It’s a magic moment, and it doesn’t last. All too soon the brilliant colors have faded into greys and blues … another overcast, wet day. But I smile, feeling blessed to have witnessed such incredible beauty, and fortunate to have been able to capture it.

Sunrise juju. Experience the magic.
