My name is JoAnne, or Jojo; and I am a lover of graphic art and design, Photoshop, and InDesign. (Also leopard print, tiger print, zebra print … pretty much animal prints in general. And snowboarding.)
I am fortunate to be able to share my passions at Guru Digital Arts College in Edmonton, Alberta. Passing on my enthusiasm for arranging elements on a page and making photographs look amazing is so much fun it should be illegal. I teach basic design principles, InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Life is good!
Hand in hand with my Photoshop obsession is a passion for photography. I have always had a pretty good ‘point and shoot’ camera, but I recently upgraded to a Nikon D200. Lots of buttons, dials, and a huge learning curve. I’m slowly and methodically making my DSLR my friend, and we are getting to know each other intimately. I have a long way to go, but I am on the path.
My focus is on print production and design, as I spent a good number of years as a print shop employee. When I joined the print industry (in my infancy) hot lead was being phased out and computerized typographical systems were all the rage. (Yes, that was a long time ago. No, I do not remember the dinosaurs.) Printing is in my blood. My great, great grandfather was a ‘printer’s devil’ in London, England, so I’m convinced it’s his fault. Ask my cousin. She’s a graphic designer too.
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll be adding tidbits regularly, and sharing adventures, cool tips that make me wiggle and giggle, and the occasional discovery so exciting I leap up and happy dance around the room. Yes, I love Photoshop THAT much! See you again soon!
